Houston Long Term Disability Attorney Marc Whitehead to Assume Presidency of HTLA

Houston, Texas (Marketwire)-September 14, 2009--Houston long term disability attorney Marc Whitehead is president elect of the Houston Trial Lawyers Association (HTLA) and will officially assume leadership of the organization on September 24.

Since 1973, HTLA has been well supported by the city’s trial lawyers with many programs established to protect the rights of citizens who have been harmed by others. Their mission statement strives to advance the cause of those who are damaged in person and property and who must seek redress therefore at law. The HTLA membership works to to resist the continuing efforts to curtail the rights of such persons and to encourage cooperation among lawyers engaged in the furtherance of such objectives. Overall, the mission of the organization is to promote justice and human welfare.

One of Whitehead’s projects for the remainder of 2009 will be the leadership of the 7th Amendment PAC of HTLA. The group of attorneys formed this political action committee as a means of expanding their position and protecting the right to trial by jury.

“There is a threat in Texas regarding the right to trial by jury,” said Whitehead. “Our PAC committee  acknowledges that we must remain politically and closely follow the summary judgment rankings in district courts throughout Texas.”
